Candid photography thrives when your photographer can anticipate rituals without interrupting them. Look for sequences that show emotional continuity—arrival, vows, and family reactions—rather than only posed portraits.

Ask how many hours are covered, whether a second shooter is included for simultaneous rituals, and how RAW backups are handled. Turnaround times for teaser films and full galleries should be written into the contract.

Families who dislike being directed often prefer candid coverage. Still, most couples need a short list of must-have group portraits; clarify that list so it does not expand mid-event.

Cinematic packages invest more time in lighting setups, drone rules, and post-production. They shine for couple films and highlight reels shared with guests, but they may require more coordination during the day.

Hybrid approaches work well: documentary coverage for rituals plus a defined cinematic couple session. Price the hybrid clearly so you are not surprised by overtime when the schedule slips.

Whatever you choose, validate the photographer’s recent work at venues similar to yours—low light banquet halls and harsh outdoor noon light behave very differently.
